First off, yes it IS a dozen films. What of it?! But this latest list is pretty much all about the Sound Unseen Film Festival and the music documentaries I saw there and I saw quite a few fews there that I wanted to include here. There is, of course the typical all-over-the-map choices before hand (Orson Welles doc into Leigh Whannell action/horror? Sure, why not?!). Also, after each of my film festivals I have a “violent reaction” with the next films I watch to “cleanse the palate. ” In this case, following the cool music docs, I headed straight for the biggest, dumbest movies I could watch: THE MEG and the latest JURASSIC WORLD sequel. Hmmmm…perfect. Thanks Jason Statham and Chris Pratt!
Here’s the latest:
1 JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM – J.A. BAYONA (DIR) (VOD)
2 THE MEG – Jon Turtketaub (DIR) (VOD)
3 ICEPICK TO THE MOON – Skizz Cyzyk (DIR) (Sound Unseen)
4 BOOM! A FILM ABOUT THE SONICS – Jordan Albertsen (DIR) (Sound Unseen)

9 DEADPOOL 2 – David Leitch (DIR) (VOD)
10 UPGRADE – Leigh Whannel (DIR) (VOD)
11 THE SOCIAL NETWORK – David Fincher (DIR) (DVD)
12 THEY’LL LOVE ME WHEN I’M DEAD – Morgan Neville (DIR) (NETFLIX)
Here’s mine:
1. With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story – Nikki Frakes, Terry Dougas and Will Hess (DIRS) (DVD-R)
2. Boom! A Film About The Sonics – Jordan Albertsen (DIR) (Sound Unseen)
3. Mapplethorpe – Ondi Timoner (DIR) (Sound Unseen)

5. Descent Into The Maelstrom: The Radio Birdman Story – Jonathan Sequeria (DIR) (Sound Unseen)
6. Icepick To The Moon – Skizz Cyzyk (DIR) (Sound Unseen) [Yes, I sat through another public screening of my own film!]
7. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs – The Coen Bros. (DIRS) (Netflix)
8. [a film festival entry I’m not allowed to discuss publicly] (Vimeo)
9. American Psycho – Mary Harron (DIR) (DVD)
10. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald – David Yates (DIR) (Cinemark Towson)
What inspired the AMERICAN PSYCHO viewing?
(And I think we can all forgive for the viewing of your own film at a fest…)
I was trying to stream film fest entries but our internet wasn’t working great, so Jen and I decided to watch a DVD instead. Neither of us had seen American Psycho before, but we have a DVD of it and we had recently heard people talking about it, so we figured we’d finally check that one off our list. BTW, I realized I accidentally left Green Book off my list (should’ve been #7 – on the way home from Sound Unseen we went straight from the airport to a preview screening), and I didn’t include a Sound Unseen shorts program and jurying Buried Alive’s Sinema Challenge shorts.

– Widows
– Suspiria (2018)
Incredibles 2 for the second time as a Thanksgiving thing with family. The rest were new, except for Widows the second time (obviously).
Stan and Ollie (on screener), Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children, Se7en (all at Metrograph as part of Darius Khondji series), Robin Hood, The Seventh Seal (new 4k restoration), Commando (yes, the Schwarzenegger one), Ralph Breaks the Internet, Capernaum, Creed II
