Rachid Bouchareb’s HORS LA LOI generated a lot of political heat in France even before it screened for distributors today. Algeria news described the film as, “an Algerian-French co-production portraying the participation of soldiers of former French colonies in the World War II. The film recounts the saga of three brothers, from the massacres of 8 May 1945 and moving to France during the Liberation War, and how each of them take different paths regarding the events that marked that period.”
